Melanie helps learners of all ages improve their reading and writing skills. People learn in a lot of different ways, and she aims to help learners of all methods grow using strategies that adapt to each learning style. As both a tutor and a coach, Melanie’s goal is to help her students develop their reading and/or writing skills in ways that open up worlds of understanding and self-expression and promote personal and professional growth.

Student Learning
Whether or not you have spoken English your whole life, it is a tough language. Melanie provides a safe, judgement-free space for you to learn reading and writing. She uses a variety of teaching methods and will work with you to figure out the best way to help you learn and feel more confident in your abilities.
Mentorship
As writers, we put a lot of thought and care into our works. Having a mentor can be invaluable in staying true to your stories while improving your writing skills. Melanie loves helping fiction writers learn and grow. With a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing and several short publications to her name, she can offer a wide variety of insights to her mentees.
Professional Development
For most professionals, writing is something you stop learning about in high school. An occasional refresher on the basics of writing provides an opportunity for professionals to freshen up their writing, and feel confident in their communications. Melanie provides presentations that go over a variety of writing topics from basic sentence structure to detailed grammatical reviews, helping your team gain confidence in their writing.
Constructive Feedback
For many writers, getting feedback can be the scariest part of the process. Melanie understands how hard it is to put your work out there and believes all feedback should be designed to help writers grow, not tear them down. Her goal is to provide writers with the honest feedback they need in a way that is constructive and informative. Her feedback includes notes on what you are doing well, actionable items for improvement, and examples of how you may enhance your writing.
